Union blames lack of retraining deal for Algoma Steel layoffs
A thousand Algoma Steel workers in Sault Ste. Marie will be laid off as of March 23. United Steelworkers Local 2251 President Mike Da Prat told CTV Your Morning that a retraining agreement with the company was not implemented when the company received subsidies from the provincial and federal governments, blaming officials for a lack of job protection.
