Vodafone Idea Ltd., India’s third-biggest phone carrier, joined its bigger rivals in raising prices of its mobile plans from July 4, the company said in a statement on Friday.

Bharti Airtel Ltd. and market leader Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. have already announced raising rates from next month, signaling a years-long price war may finally be coming to an end.

India’s phone carriers are recovering from a bruising price war that started after Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani made inroads into the sector in 2016. The latest hikes are aimed at bolstering revenue, and recouping investments made in 5G networks.

The fresh tariff hikes also came on the heels of the latest round of airwaves auction that brought in $1.3 billion for the Indian government, just a fraction of what it has earned in the past, as the three operators dialed back on capital spending.

Investors have expected the much-awaited tariff hikes to boost telecoms operator earnings and market value. America’s top wireless carrier AT&T Inc.’s average revenue per user is $55, while the measure is as low as $2 in India, said Niket Shah, chief investment officer at Motilal Oswal Asset Management Co in April. The measure needs to be more than 300 rupees ($3.6) to enable financial health of operators, according to Bharti.
