We’ve seen only half of the impact of BoC’s rate hikes so far: Economist Benjamin Tal
Benjamin Tal, deputy chief economist at CIBC Capital Markets, tells BNN Bloomberg the BoC is very close to overshooting with its interest rate hikes. He believes another hike in June is doubtful, but that a hike in July is very possible. He also discusses the affordability crisis in housing, arguing for more supply. He says the correction in housing seen so far is just a blip, and that the fundamentals of this market are too strong.
