We’ll see a more casual approach to office design: SGH Design Partners’ Susan Jefferson
Susan Jefferson, national director of workplace strategy at SGH Design Partners, joins BNN Bloomberg to discuss the growing trend of hybrid work and designing for hybrid workspaces. She notes that 90 per cent of offices were originally designed for assigned seating and are undergoing a slow transition to hybrid work. She lists some elements of redesigned offices as more collaborative workspaces, lunch rooms upgraded to work cafes and more colour and nicer lighting at work stations. A Colliers report released today notes nearly two-thirds of Canadian companies are planning to follow a hybrid work model, and this could generate a 4.5 per cent increase in office vacancy by 2025.
