Adani Green Energy Ltd.’s Chief Executive Officer, Amit Singh, will step down from his current role on March 31 to assume leadership of the conglomerate’s international energy business, the company said in a filing Monday.

Singh will be replaced by Ashish Khanna, who currently leads the international energy business, according to the filing. The job swap will allow the group to harness Singh’s international experience — he has worked in over a dozen countries — as it seeks to expand in new geographies, including the Middle East and North African region, the company said in a separate statement.

The leadership shuffle comes amid US prosecutors’ accusations that the group’s founder Gautam Adani and his associates offered bribes to government officials in India to secure solar power offtake contracts. The group has denied all charges.

Singh took over the reins of the company in May 2023, when the group was battling separate allegations of market manipulation and accounting fraud by US-based shortseller Hindenburg Research. The charges have been repeatedly denied by the group. As the conglomerate emerged from the onslaught, Singh steered Adani Green’s growth and foray into the energy storage.
