(Bloomberg) -- Galp Energia SGPS SA’s ethics committee is investigating an anonymous tip about an alleged personal relationship between Chief Executive Officer Filipe Silva and a manager at the Portuguese oil company, Eco reported, citing people it didn’t identify.

The alleged relationship may cast doubt on the integrity of decisions made by the 60-year-old CEO, the online Portuguese publication reported, citing one of the people.

In response, Silva told Eco that he knew about the tip but was unaware of its details. He denied that any personal relationship had threatened his decision-making.

The chair of Lisbon-based Galp’s ethics and conduct committee, Tito Arantes Fontes, told Eco that the firm receives various tips, without commenting on the allegation against Silva. A spokesperson for the company declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg.

Silva has been Galp’s CEO since January 2023 and his term is scheduled to end in 2026. Galp is currently carrying out exploration in the Mopane oil discovery in Namibia. It also operates the Sines refinery in Portugal and holds stakes in offshore oil blocks in Brazil.
