(Bloomberg) -- Lenovo Group Ltd. will release the world’s first laptop with an expanding rollable display this March, pricing it at $3,499.
The business-oriented machine, dubbed the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, will operate as a regular 14-inch laptop capable of extending into a nearly 17-inch display in portrait orientation. At the press of a button, the screen slowly extends upwards, with the extra real estate unfurling from a hidden compartment.
It was first introduced as a proof of concept for integrating advanced display technologies two years earlier and is being realized as a product this year, Lenovo said at CES in Las Vegas on Monday.
The new ThinkBook is part of an overhaul of Lenovo’s PC lineup that adds more models to the list of computers running Microsoft Corp.’s Copilot software, adds Lenovo’s in-house AI Now on-device assistant and introduces Intel Corp.’s latest Core Ultra processors.
The Beijing-based company, still the world’s biggest PC vendor, is making a push for more responsible design at CES this year. Its new laptops make use of more recycled materials, with the ThinkBook Plus using a cover made of 50% recycled aluminum.
