Housing sales in eight major cities of India totaled over 350,000 units last year, the highest in 12 years, according to a research by real estate consultancy Knight Frank.
- Home sales in those cities, which included Mumbai and capital Delhi, rose 7% y/y
- Office leasing hit a record high of 71.9 million square feet, up 21% from a year ago, with Bengaluru accounting for one in four transactions.
- Sales of houses costing up to 10 million rupees ($116,640) were flat to lower.
- Mumbai retained its position as the largest residential market, accounting for 27% of total sales
- Bengaluru saw the most appreciation in home prices at 12%
- Sales of houses costing between 20 million rupees and 50 million rupees rose 85%
