(Bloomberg) -- Verizon Communications Inc. said Monday its engineers resolved a network problem that interrupted service for a number of customers.

As of 7:49 p.m. New York time, fewer than 3,000 customers were reporting connection issues to Downdetector, a website that records consumer complaints. The problem peaked at around 11 a.m., when more than 100,000 people reported issues.

Of those customers, 50% said they were having problems with their mobile phone, 35% said they have no signal and 15% said they are experiencing a total blackout. Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas were among the top locations reporting issues.

Service has now returned to normal levels, a Verizon spokesperson said in an email. Individuals still experiencing issues should restart their phones, the person said.

The Federal Communications Commission said it was aware of the outage in a tweet Monday.

“We are working to determine the cause and extent of these service disruptions,” the FCC said.
